Happy Birthday Your Majesty, nice cup of Yorkshire Tea?

In Her Majesty’s Jubilee Year Asghar Majeed was Mayor of Windsor… the first muslim Mayor of our town and by way of a bonus he hales from Yorshire…

He told me this great story which I’m sure you’ll enjoy… and do raise a cup of your favourite tea in celebration today, perhaps I nice slice of cake to go with 😉

Her Majesty visits the Guildhall a few times and year and they always ask would she like a cup of tea and she always says no thank you.

On her Jubilee Walk from Windsor Castle to The Guildhall she’d had to engage with everyone holding flowers and was obviously feeling a little parched.

Asghar asks Her Majesty, “Would you like a nice cup of Yorkshire tea ma’am?”

She replies, “Yes please!”

Asghar turns to his assistant in a slight panic, do we have clean cups, go find out and make tea for two!

The Duke, in usual witty form, responds, “Yorkshire tea? They don’t make tea in Yorkshire?!”

The Mayor use to his repartee replies, “It’s OK Sir, they’ve renamed part of Ceylon Yorkshire!”

They all had a chuckle and enjoyed a nice cup of Yorkshire tea.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOUR MAJESTY
