Calling all middle & secondary schools in Windsor

youth speaks 1090 zone final trevelyan school 2015

Rotary Youth Speaks competition is a national competition which starts with heats in many towns across the UK where Rotary has a presence, 1800+ clubs, making it a very prestigious award, one well worth entering.

Even though there can only be one winner, Trevelyan above got all the way to the Regional Finals this year, the children that take part in Youth Speaks find it invaluable in their growth from school pupil to university student to potential employee.

This year’s competition starts in Windsor on Thursday 19th November and I would like to invite every middle & secondary schools in Windsor to submit at least 1 team, ideally 2 teams to compete in this year’s competition.

I have been managing this project on behalf of Windsor & Eton Rotary Club for the last 5 years and I would like this year’s to be the most inclusive yet. In the modern world teachers change school all the time and so participation in the competition can vary from year to year but just requires one teacher with the passion and enthusiasm for the competition to step up and lead the way.

This is why this year I need your help to make sure we find that magic teacher in each school…

In the real world many of us need to give presentations as part of our chosen careers and the sooner you get used to speaking to audiences full of strangers the better. Your qualifications will only get you so far, a winning presentation could change your life!

I’m calling on Windsor Girls School, Brigidine School, Windsor Boys’ School, Trevelyan Middle School, St Edward’s Royal Free, St Peter’s Church of England, Eton College, St George’s Choir School, Dedworth Middle School and St John’s Beaumont to join in this year’s competition and while I have contacts for many of the schools, for others I need to find that all important teacher champion.

To help me find this year’s Youth Speaks Champion in each school, if you have a child going to any of the above schools and would like them to have a better chance of landing a great job then please ask your headmaster if the school is taking part in the Rotary Youth Speaks Competition and if not get them to make contact with me.

To make it even more special for our young people we get some local VIPs to help us with the judging. Sir Ian MacFadyen was constable of Windsor Castle and a great supporter of the competition.

I look forward to welcoming your son or daughter to this year’s competition.

Thank you.
