The removal of the Advantage Card residents discount has angered residents who are now going to towns like Bracknell as, despite the journey, it’s cheaper to park. The net result is that the council is now earning zero from those doing so as opposed to a discounted fee. To encourage residents to return and shop in THEIR local town centre, free parking over the important Christmas period (up to January) should encourage locals to return in greater numbers. This will also reflect positively on the council giving a win-win outcome.
