@WERotary Youth Committee received 8 applications for funding and made its decisions based on the specific needs of competing organisations and the value and quality that limited funding could provide.

Each year Windsor & Eton Rotary Club receive a number of requests for money and we also organise our own events, such as Youth Speaks, a speaking competition from which the winners engage in a number of rounds, ending up with a National winner. Most of the local middle and senior schools take part in this competition each year.

The Rotary Club had planned to organise a Young Environmentalist competition this year but this has had to be postponed because of the pandemic but, hopefully, will move forward in September.

The difficulty experienced as a result of Covid-19 in arranging events over the past year has resulted in the Youth Committee having some surplus money in the budget and, hence the call to local Youth focused organisations to step forward with initiatives that the Club might support. 

Windsor Boys School were rewarded £1000 which will enable them to purchase a half set of drums and we are confident this will benefit a large number of the young people of Windsor.

Windsor & Eton Sea Cadets were granted £832 for a security fence, a very specific, well researched application.

The Autism Group who help young people from across RBWM needed tables and chairs for socialising and so were awarded £500 towards their nicely presented submission.

Queen Anne First School presented a scheme requiring a mobile book shelf for their library and were granted £300 and so we granted for this purpose.

Pupils at Trevelyan Middle School are creating a cookbook, with recipes from students at a cost of £200 which was approved.

Three other organisations made applications which offered insufficient detail to merit an award. However, the Youth Committee will be asking them to resubmit their bids, to include more specific details for grants up to a maximum of £100 each.
