For more years than I can remember we bring you more Royal Ascot tips with compliments from Brian Smith FCIM, Dip CAM – International Marketing Consultancy 01344 621825… the guy that invented Air Miles!

See if these top tips can give you wings… nah that’s red bull, they’ll be flying in next month 😉

2.30 Queen Anne Stakes (Class 1) (Group 1) 1 Mile Straight.

Able Friend 5/2 from Hong Kong won 6 races in a row at Sha Tin which has tucked £4mils of winnings under his girth would, you would think, be red hot favourite were it not for Solow 6/4 from Hong Kong in being able to adapt to the track.

It will be nip and tuck all the way but preference will have to be for Solow. Night of Thunder 9/2 could prove a good each way bet being the surprise 40/1winner of last seasons 2000 Guineas and the Lockinge winner this year.

Main bet: SOLOW 6/4 No 6 on the racecard. Night of Thunder 9/2 each way No 5 on the racecard.

3.05 Coventry Stakes (Class 1) (Group 2). 6f.

The Godolphin stable runs Round Two 9/4 unbeaten as Naas who may well be slogging it out with War Department 8/1. However, Wesley Ward has brought over Finnegan 13/2 from the USA and this trainer’s reputation at Ascot couldn’t be higher. Nevertheless, Jim Bolger knows what it takes to win the Coventry and has few equals when producing 2yr olds for this meeting which places Round Two firmly on the prospective winners list for me.

Main bet: ROUND TWO 9/4 No 14 on the racecard.

3.40 King’s Stand Stakes [British Leg of The Global Sprint Challenge] (Class 1) (Group 1). 5f.

Last years winner Sole Power 4/1 is bidding for a hat trick in this race having an incredible turn of foot, and is worth a serious mention again especially if the ground is fast. Mecca’s Angel 7/1ould not be far behind. Many think she’s the best sprinting filly since Lochsong and is the only other filly in the race capable of giving Sole Power a race. Muthmir 9/2 should also be in the mix.

Main bet: SOLE POWER 4/1 to win the hat trick No 12 on the racecard.

4.20 St James’s Palace Stakes (Class 1) (Group 1) (Entire Colts) 1 Mile Round.

The only credible challenger to Irish 2000 Guineas winner Gleneagles 8/13 is probably Make Believe 10/3 the French 2000 Guineas winner, although unbeaten Consort xx/xx trained by Sir Michael Stout should be there or thereabouts. Gleneagles was withdrawn from the Derby especially to run in this race. However as you won’t get much money back by backing Gleneagles it is better to go for a place bet on Make Believe.

Main bet: GLENEAGLES 8/13 will win but no bet No 4 on the racecard. Make Believe 10/3 bet without the winner No 6 on the racecard.

5.00 Ascot Stakes (Handicap) (Class 2) 2mls 4f. 4 year olds+.

Slow to gather form Ray Ward 6/1 secured second place at Goodwood and then went on to tear up the ground at Newmarket so should present the best each way be of the day. He now carries 6lb higher for that success which should prove no problem.

Main bet RAY WARD 6/1 each way No 12 on the racecard.

5.35 Windsor Castle Stakes (Class 1) (Listed Race) 5f.

Wesley Ward has won this race twice and enters today Ruby Notion 15/2. Orvar 6/1 is also worth a look following a green but ground scorching Salisbury debut win.

Main bet: RUBY NOTION 15/2 each way No 26 on the racecard. ORVAR 6/1 each way No 12 on the racecard.
