Windsor Ready to Welcome Russell Brand on his “Innocent Until Proven Guilty” Tour
Currently with 896 votes, twice as many people believe we should “Ban Trial by Media” as think the show tomorrow night at The Theatre Royal Windsor should be cancelled.
It’s a serious accusation by the well known national media brands but who owns them and what is their agenda?
Russell has built a multimillion following who listen to him regularly and there is nothing more irritating to global governance than those going off message!
If there are questions to be answered then to my mind it should be done in court.

And then all of a sudden, these allegations come from nowhere which could silence him
None of these women have gone to the police, instead choosing to speak to the media.

If he is found to be guilty in a court of law, so be it. But as it stands, no proof has been provided these allegations have any bearing.

The whole trial by media for people in the spot light is getting stupid now. Why is it that the media are allowed to create this witch hunt mentality, and carry out the job of the police. They are not the police and they should not be able to destroy someone like this. If he had done it then report to the police and let them do their job. Guilty until proven innocent. Seems to be the media attacking him again. Shock. That’s what happens when you speak out about the media and I will happily eat my words if actual substantial evidence is provided in a court of law.
Let people make their own mind up, if they dont want to go due to allegations then they should be refunded, if people want to go then let them.
The allegations dont say anything that Russell hasnt said himself in the past regarding his promiscuity. There has been no court case and at present he is not guilty of any offence just allegations.

Honestly there are all sorts going on in the world and it can be very hard to know the reality behind it all. Is there some truth about it all? Is he being framed? Will we ever know?

Anyone else wondering why the women who have made serious allegations against Russell Brand haven’t actually gone to the police? They’ve gone to Channel 4. They’ve gone to The Times. But they haven’t gone to the police. In fact, no one has gone to the police, despite the fact the police have urged them to contact them. The only thing we’re dealing with is a media documentary, using actresses hidden in shadows, without a shred of proof or evidence for an actual crime.
Russell Brand, has admitted and been entirely open about his addictions in the past, and received treatment for them – yet only now being demonised as a sexual predator by the entire media circus and their loyal followers, 15 years after events may have taken place?
This is trial by media, one we have seen before on several occasions… best to look at some of the stories Russell Brand has been reporting on recently, and work out why the mainstream media want to shut him down, and have him cancelled.
I’ve been reading a bit about it and I haven’t seen the TV show. I’ve just been looking at the journalistic logistics behind reporting a story like this. (And people in the comedy arena speaking out)
Also, the fact that his representatives have dropped him .. despite having defended him years ago, when the original allegations were made.

Whilst my choices are covered in the poll, I do feel it’s a little one-sided with no “Let the show go ahead” option.
Trial by local Facebook group too it seems. A totally unhelpful biased post as many have commented.

Calling a trial by media is really trivialising it.
This isn’t a Clickbait snapshot, from what I have read on the journalism side, it has been worked on for a couple of years. Thoroughly investigated with firsthand accounts, and investigating what those people have said as well.
The newspaper is critically aware of the potential for legal action, so they have not posted anything that would not stand up in court.
As there has now been trial by media it wont stand up in court as it will be hard to find a jury that hasnt already formed an opinion, so none of it will stand up in court now anyway
It’s a difficult decision, I personally feel uncomfortable with all the media coverage and believe everyone has an opinion. Having a refund easily is an option for anyone how has tickets it wishes to purchase
Whatever – please let’s all think about and support Theatre Royal Windsor in this. They’re a fabulous asset to our town. Quite sure they don’t want to lose the revenue of a fully sold out show on a Tuesday night, if they have to cancel and then refund everyone. So, whatever decisions are made, please let’s be mindful of their staff and their revenue – I love Theatre Royal, visit often and feel for everyone there.

Within the industry his reputation was, as with past transgressors, no secret. What amazes me is that, even when it is an open secret, people are somehow shocked by the revelations of his behaviour.

why have they only just involved the police? Sorry but if a crime has been committed then the first thing is to contact authorities! I’m not saying it’s not true I just think this is another case of ruining someone’s life for the sake of a headline! Remember Caroline Flack!
I’d be the 1st to protect anyone, however, this is not an off-the-cuff random accusation.. this has been years in investigation.
Vicky Smith is quite a good source of commentary on the situation, answering questions etc. It looks like she’s saving it all to it’s worth looking at that
it may well have been investigated thoroughly but not by the police and until such time as they arrest Brand, I don’t think it’s right for everyone to speculate. The so called victims are being protected and their identities withheld, the same should be the case for the alleged perpetrator. This type of accusation ruins lives, careers, it’s not right that the media sensationalise it for a headline. Look at recent cases, Kevin spacey, high profile footballers, entertainers, all found not guilty but careers ruined!
