Currently there is a planning application in for a BIG WHEEL to take over half of the most eastern end of Alexandra Gardens, the entrance from the town to the first large oak, for 6 months from March to September.

It was allowed last year so that helps the application but since then a new Sustainability planning policy has been adopted by RBWM which is all about mental health and keeping green spaces green.
Also the Government has just lent RBWM over £100m to sort its finances.
RBWM can’t be seen to be turning down income or the powers that be might look less favourably on any further requests for borrowing.
How would you see this business decision?
If you had a rate card that said we should be charging circa £1,000,000 for a 6 month lease and you gave it away for £40,000. Would you see that as:
- An income of £40,000
- Or a loss of £960,000
For me, should they grant permission, if they are not charging at least £100,000 for the lease then questions need to be asked about RBWM’s ability to make business decisions.
