NEXT 20 YEAR Windsor Development Plan
When I stood for election in 2019, I really thought I could have an impact on the planning developments in Windsor. I had no idea about the Local Plan, I had no idea that major developers schmoozed councils for 20 years or more before a spade breaks the ground!
I did learn:
- that developers are all over the government looking for easier and easier ways to make a £billion.
- And the ONLY WAY for the GREEN BELT to be REMOVED is via the LOCAL PLAN
- all bitching and moaning about a current development is essentially pointless…
- the ONLY TIME you really have any say is RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW

So, please, if you care about the future, take 20 minutes to complete the consultation questionnaire above and get a copy, so you can ponder your current responses over the next few weeks and respond again with a more thoughtful response before the deadline of 13th September 2026. You get the school hols to have your say… don’t miss it…
And if you don’t bother to respond to this survey then you have ZERO right to bitch about any planning applications for the next 20 YEARS. If you want the rights to be a keyboard warrior, earn them by having your say above.

We are writing to let you know about two important Planning Policy matters:
- The start of the scoping consultation for the new Development Plan for the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead; and
- Changes to how we manage Planning Policy consultations.
New Development Plan – Scoping Consultation
The Council has begun work on preparing a new local plan, called the Development Plan for the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead. The Development Plan will help guide future growth and development across the Borough and will set planning policies that influence how places evolve over the coming years.
As part of this process, we are launching an initial scoping consultation to gather views on the key planning issues, opportunities and priorities that the new Plan should address, and to get your views on how we can involve you in preparing the Plan going forwards.
We would welcome your participation in this early stage of plan-making. Further information on the consultation, including how to respond, can be found here:

The consultation will close at 11.59pm on 13 September 2026.
Call for Sites
Alongside the scoping consultation, the Council is also undertaking a Call for Sites exercise.
A Call for Sites invites landowners, developers, businesses, community groups and other interested parties to suggest land or sites that may have potential for future development, redevelopment, protection or other planning purposes.
Submitting a site through the Call for Sites process does not mean that the site will automatically be allocated for development. Rather, it enables the Council to identify and assess potential opportunities across the Borough as part of preparing the new Plan.

The Call for Sites closes at the same time as the same time as scoping consultation, at 11.59pm on 13 September 2026.
Details of the consultations and relevant documents are also available in libraries throughout the borough during normal opening hours.
Changes to Planning Policy Consultations
To improve how we manage Planning Policy consultations and engagement, we are moving from our existing Planning Policy consultation database to a new digital consultation platform.
To comply with data protection requirements and ensure that we hold up-to-date information about your communication preferences, contact details from the existing database will not be transferred to the new platform.
If you would like to continue receiving Planning Policy updates, consultation invitations and information about the new Plan, you will need to register on the new platform and complete a short notification preferences form. The form allows you to tell us:
- which Planning Policy matters you would like to be kept informed about;
- whether you are responding as a resident, business, developer, landowner, community organisation or other interested party;
- which aspects and stages of the new Development Plan you would like to receive updates about; and
- how you would like to hear from us about future consultations and engagement opportunities.
**Important Information**
The existing Planning Policy Consultation Database will be archived and retired shortly.
If you do not register on the new platform, you will no longer receive direct notifications of Planning Policy consultations or updates from the Council.
All consultations will continue to be published on the Council’s website at Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead – Citizen Space, and anyone will still be able to participate. However, you will need to register on the new platform if you wish to receive consultation alerts and updates directly.
