The Thames Valley & Great Western Omnibus Trust

The Thames Valley & Great Western Omnibus Trust preserves and treasures our Thames Valley & Great Western bus heritage connecting people, places and the past, bringing joy and understanding of where we have been and where we are going today.

We look after a collection vintage buses – some of them ran into Windsor and surrounding areas. We have an archive which includes old timetables, ticket machines and uniforms as well as photographs which conjure up earlier days of public transport.

We take our collection out to communities so people can experience bygone travel. Come with family and friends to see us at the Windsor Vintage Bus Day on 28th July 2024 – 40 years after the London Country Depot closed!

We mark transport anniversaries, and enjoy the vehicles and all that heritage buses represent – design developments, technological progress, societal changes – using a perspective on the past to inform our view of a sustainable future.

What one of our volunteers / supporters “looks” like…
We are all volunteers and come from all walks of life. Some like practical tasks working on bus restorations or washing and polishing vehicles for events. Others are in their element in the archive, cataloguing our treasured collection or researching the local history and role of bus services in shaping communities.

Connections with people are all important and volunteers who help visitors explore their transport heritage at our events are a terrific asset.
We are a registered charity so administrative skills make a valued contribution to keeping the Trust on the road for the public of all ages to enjoy. Supporters donate to Trust funds, receive a quality magazine each quarter, and have the opportunity to go to transport related events with Trust friends around the local area.
