Response on Pavement Parking from TVPCC Candidate Ben Holden-Crowther
I have asked a couple of questions of our Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner candidates and last night got this response back from Ben…
S.72 Highway Act 1835 (which is referred to in Rule 145 of the Highway Code) provides that an offence is committed: ‘If any person shall wilfully ride upon any footpath or causeway by the side of any road made or set apart for the use or accommodation of foot passengers …’.
This can definitely be enforced by the issuing by the police of a fixed penalty notice, but unfortunately this does not seem to be happening in Windsor.
As Police and Crime Commissioner, I would certainly be raising your concerns with the Chief Constable about why on earth this isn’t being enforced, considering the danger posed.
Thank you Ben. Taking time to respond to my question deserves 48 seconds of air time… more about Ben here…
Thank you.
