Every few months we find it useful to re-evaluate our “I Love Windsor” Facebook Group and tweak things. We changed the name to “I Love Windsor Directory & Community Forum” this week in keeping with our focus.
Last time we tweeked it, we only allowed residents of Windsor UK to join the group automatically but seemingly Facebook allows anyone to join! Why offer a setting that doesn’t actually work? We’ll just open the door and simply monitor posts… deleting those abusing our trust as they pop their heads up 😉
We’d like this group to be focused on community groups & charities and the work they are doing but they tend to be so busy doing what they are good at rather than posting on FB… appeal to them… do try and make use of the group as we get around 40,000 page views each month from over 11,000 members.
Pubs and clubs like to post but they can start to dominate proceedings… we’d ask pubs and clubs to post aggregated posts on a Thursday and Monday… so all events over the weekend on the Thursday post… all the following week’s events and offers on the Monday.
Pets, last time we advised just on the 13th of the month… we’ll keep that model.
We stopped all business posts as far too many… this has reduced the number of posts by 20% but it feels nicer so again, we’ll stick to that.
We would like to support local retailers… so those with physical shops in Windsor that want to post offers, can do so on a Wednesday… folk can then plan their weekend retail therapy!
Fitness & health needs a day as well… so how about Sunday… after a weekend of fun, eating and drinking, Sunday we beat ourselves up and might be thinking, we should get fitter 😉
Everyone loves a good wedding and so we should really allow that focus, shall we say Friday. That’ll do…
