RBWM Full Council had an “Angry Bird” talking about a £25 million discrepancy in the accounts. Which combined with Cllr Moriarty’s talk of fridge magnets, gave me and ChatGPT creative fodder for the lead image.
I like to use humour but this is a very, very, VERY serious matter…
Read the CIPFA reports which clearly state who was responsible for the financial mess we are in. The reality is a Section 114 notice is highly likely as there could be even more millions yet to be found, or not, as the case may be.

Executive Summary
Given the state of the finances in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM) that was inherited by the new Administration, CEO and CFO in the summer of 2023, a s114 notice could be required in 2024-25 if the council cannot take immediate action to mitigate the overspends. There is an historic reserves deficit for 2023/24 that was not apparent until 2024/25 but current legal advice is that this would not require a S114 notice due to its historic nature.
The council is in a grave financial position and is still at a discovery stage in some areas, which needs to be completed, before it can really progress recovery actions and think about improvement or indeed transformation.
Thank you.

Despite money flowing in without having sell anything, make anything, being concerned about “customers”, providing a prompt & efficient service………the money disappears into a messy hole. Overpaid council leaders need removing & properly qualified business managers put in place…….
Totally agree it’s been the same for years overpaid they need people who can manage finances and put the money where it is most needed and works for the residents. We need a council who works for its residents.
