Windsor UK Community Let’s Chat…
Increasingly I’ve been concerned about the controls being placed on people having conversations online. It has felt like Facebook and LinkedIn increasingly filter based on their algorithms that aim to make them the most money.
I get why they might do that but that doesn’t stop it irritating me.
Logically I could just moan, moan, moan, or alternatively I can act, act, act 😉
So I’ve been exploring the potential to add online chat to our I Love Windsor website and it would seem we have a solution that gets us up and running using BBpress which plugs in, almost seamlessly, with WordPress.
It meant changing the template we’ve been using for the last couple of years but that’s OK.
We can highlight some of our news stories, current and historic, which makes it fun.
We want people to be aware of our online directories but we also are keen to raise funds for hard copy versions because not everyone is able or wants to use the internet.
Recently Abri gave us a little funding to enable us to produce copies for Christmas… our preference has been to give them away but since they cost us around £5 a copy to produce, we may have to look at different funding methods in 2026.
