Notice Productions is a youth filmmaking organization based in Windsor. Led by the young people themselves, aged 13-18, they create powerful films on issues of social importance. With every project, they adopt highly original and often experimental approaches to storytelling.
At this exclusive event, we invite you to the first public showing of two deeply compelling works. The Ballad of Mallory Opfer, the directorial debut of 16-year-old Poppy Knowles, tells the story of a woman who suffers from maladaptive daydreaming – a psychological condition that pulls her from the grim reality of daily life into a surrealist fairytale realm. The film is an ambitious combination of experimental production techniques mixed with profound emotional poignancy.
Continuing this exploration of the human psyche, Bruises, the directorial debut of 16-year-old Sam Horsfall, follows a young man named Ben and his mental health worker, Dr. Miles. It is a bold examination of childhood trauma and the fragility of the human condition. Presented in a non-linear narrative, the film is highly evocative while refusing to offer easy answers.
