Earlier this week I was talking to colleagues about Eid and how we might do something to recognise the celebration within our local community.
Taking time to understand each other’s religious beliefs is important if we are going to have strong local communities.
I phoned a friend of mine to ask more about Eid and together we came up with the idea of a bookmark that celebrates and educates at the same time.
Please feel free to download the PDF and print off copies to use as you see fit.
I have delivered bookmarks for the reception classes at three local schools nearest Tesco Dedworth and will be handing them out in store over the next few days.
Eid Mubarak
This Eid, may Allah grant you and your loved ones happiness, prosperity and peace.
Eid Mubarak means “Happy Eid”
Eid al-Fitr is the Islamic festival to mark the completion of Ramadan. Muslims rejoice for having been given the strength to fulfill their obligation of fasting.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, during which many Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset each day.
Fasting during Ramadan is believed to help purify the soul and increase spiritual awareness. It is a time to reflect on your actions and seek forgiveness for your sins.
Along with the Eid al-Fitr feast, many Muslims observe the day by getting dressed up, decorating their homes, gathering with family and friends, attending services at their mosque, and making charitable donations.
Thank you.
