Volunteers Needed at Windsor’s Community Fridge
Do you have a couple of hours free, from say 10:30am to 12:30pm once a week? We need a few more volunteers down at Windsor’s Community Fridge if you have a little spare time? 181 Oxford Road, Windsor, near The Boys’ School.

Tiia and Fran were talking to shoppers in Tesco’s on Monday morning and were visited by Bruce, a regular down the fridge and Councillor Helen Price who popped in to the fridge last week to get a few bits to help out one of her residents and commented
“One of my families, mum and dad work, with two children has been hit hard by the COL. I went along to the Community Fridge to pick up some food for them. I turned up towards the end so no queues and no one behind me. I left with five bags of frozen, chilled, fresh fruit and veg, and larder foodstuffs and two bunches of flowers! And there was still fresh food asking to be rescued. When the volunteers realised the children were teenagers and obviously voracious appetites they suggested items. This is an amazing resource on our doorsteps in Oxford Road, saving food from going into landfill whilst helping us all save pennies.”
Councillor Jodie Grove popped in Wednesday to see the fridge for herself
“Driven forward is such an asset to the local community, and a wonderful initiative to help reduce food waste. The fact you can save food from landfill, whilst stocking up on all sorts of produce for a small donation, is a winning combination in my book. I’ll certainly be making regular visits.”
Tidying up at the end of the day Daniel popped in to collect some bread for Swan Support, Datchet to prevent it being wasted. He loves swans, recently moving closer to The Swan pub to further demonstrate his commitment 😉
He also took the opportunity to take home a fresh marrow, one of a bevy kindly donated by a supporter.
