During November 1993 Meat Loaf was No.1 with “I’ll do anything for love (but I won’t do that)” just as a number of our current colleagues were starting their careers at Tesco.
These guys must really love it to have stuck around so long 😉
Satvir Lallh, Caroline Ayres and Tracy Fallis have all worked for Tesco for over 30 years! Tracy and Satvir were at Tesco Dedworth on day 1.
Fashion was grunge plaid, denim, dungarees, doc martens, skinny jeans and skin tight dresses back in 1993. Have you still got clothes from 1993!
We’re going to have some fun in the store during November to say thank you to the many customers who have been loyal to us for all these years.
- We’ll host Checkout Bingo and give out gifts to the lucky winners 😉 It would also be fun to fill our windows with your pictures and stories from 1993… please drop copies in at customer services…
- We’re also asking the local community to nominate people who have done more than their fair share of trying to support their neighbours and the wider community over the years…
- And our BIG PUSH to celebrate our birthday is to help Baby Bank generate as many gifts as possible for young people in need of our love and support. Last year, thanks to our customers’ generosity we were able to give hundreds of gifts to Baby Bank to share with young people who would otherwise have got very little.

This year, we need to generate as many gifts as possible by the end of November, to ensure they get to the kids for Christmas Day. We’d like to encourage customers to bring in new gifts for those 0-3 years old and 8-18 and put them in the trolley like last year. Baby Bank has had a generous donation for the other age group and so it’s mainly the very young and teenagers we need gifts for this year.
For teenagers you can’t go wrong with deodorants, toiletries, cosmetics, sweat tops, t-shirts and hoodies. Toys and babygrows for 0-3 😉
Let’s make our 30th Birthday & this Christmas one to remember.
Thank you.
