Parallel is a disability lifestyle brand with purpose & an attitude of no limits living
One of the biggest social problems in the world is disability inclusion.
As a social enterprise, our simple aim is to support D/deaf, disabled and neurodiverse communities to be free to live life to the full in mainstream society. To help achieve this aim, we create award winning events and campaigns.
Our annual flagship event is Parallel Windsor, which we stage on the iconic Long Walk in the Windsor Great Park. Parallel Windsor combines a Festival of Inclusivity with challenge events for everybody of all ages, health conditions and abilities.
Our other notable campaign is Purple Sock Day, which is a national act of mass participation taking place on 3rd December; the International Day of Disabled People. 50% of all proceeds support disabled entrepreneurs.
What one of our volunteers looks like…
Volunteering is integral to the success of Parallel Windsor. We have a vibrant community of volunteers, who we call VIPs – Very Inclusive People.
We require over 150 volunteers, covering a wide range of roles.
- Route Team: Providing support at the Start Line, Finish line, and along the route. Distribute water, hand out t-shirts and medals.
- Registration Team: Provide an efficient and welcoming registration process for participants.
- Cloakroom Team: Organise all the challenge event participant belongings.
- Festival Team: Support the set-up and running of the festival site. Provide support to entertainment acts, artists, presenters and sponsors.
- Wellbeing Team: Offer support and kindness to anyone needing support. Support the medical team as required.
- Green Team: Help to implement the sustainability plan.
- The Media Team: Provide support to the event photographers, videographers and provide media support.
All volunteers receive online accessibility training pre-event and in-person disability training on the day of the event.
