Soroptimist International of Slough Windsor and Maidenhead

Soroptimist International of Slough Windsor and Maidenhead is a local branch of Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland, which is in turn part of Soroptimist International. As part of a global volunteer movement, we work together to transform the lives of women and girls. Our vision is that women and girls will achieve their individual and collective potential, realise aspirations and have an equal voice in creating strong, peaceful communities worldwide. All our projects are linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals whether local, national or international.  Members can support their Club projects through practical and/or financial means (though we are not primarily a fundraising organisation), or by advocacy (e.g. lobbying governments and raising awareness of issues affecting women and girls). Benefits of becoming a Soroptimist include not just helping to make a difference but also friendship, meeting like minded women, personal development and having fun!

Volunteers & Supporters

A typical member is someone who is passionate about making a difference to the lives of women and girls locally, nationally and internationally through volunteering and project work. She could use any skills she may have, whether professional or not, to achieve the Club’s Soroptimist aims and objectives.  Examples of current local organisations we work with are DASH (Domestic Abuse Stops Here), and Age Concern Windsor.  As a service organisation and not a fundraising one, the Club does sometimes raise funds for certain projects and charities. We also support initiatives into modern slavery, domestic abuse, climate change and others.  A member will volunteer at various events e.g. manning a stall at a fair or helping to organise a quiz. She will offer whatever time she can spare. We are a friendly group of women and look forward to meeting up with you if you are interested in joining us.
