How does one assess how the electorate will vote in the next general election? The political parties tend to sponsor research that shows each of them leading the way 😉
With the People’s Independent Party sweeping the board last week at the Castle Point Borough elections, Wolfie would have been so proud. Will that historic gateway to The Thames see a flood of Independents washing all the party political bs away come the next general election?
If we look at the current seating plan for 33 ward councillors that will make up the new Windsor constituency then we have:
- 11 Independent
- 11 Conservative
- 6 LibDem
- 5 Labour
If you then consider the runners up, where they achieved more than 70% of the votes of the winner, we can say:
Of the existing Conservative held seats 9 of the 11 could change. 2 go Independent, 2 Labour and 5 LibDem.
Of the Labour seats again only 1 is safe. 3 could switch to the Conservatives and 1 to the Independents.
And while it would appear the 6 LibDems appear secure and only 2 of the 11 Independent seats would change… is that the true picture?
The LibDems and Independents didn’t go head to head in Windsor and so this reality is set to play out in any up and coming election.
Considering other factors, the Conservative candidate has a strong charm offensive, a full team and ample budget but the mood is against him.
The Labour candidate is both female and Asian while all her main competitors are white English males.
The secret of mind control is repetitive messaging which the subconscious decides must be real because it’s heard it 100x already!
The main 3 parties have oodles of money to spend on their candidates’ elections and back office teams that can make pretty graphics and videos to keep the news media, social media and the voters entertained.
There is a very real chance that Windsor could be an Independent seat if enough residents offer assistance.
The foundations are there. All that David Buckley needs is an army of volunteers to help him muster those voters who want to see real change in Parliament and not the same old, same old.
Go and visit his website and arrange to sit down with him and discuss his ideas over a nice cup of Yorkshire tea 😉
(Happy to swap out any of these links above for candidates.)
Thank you.

Lib Dems won Virginia Water from the Conservatives in last week’s local elections.
