The following message landed in my email box Wednesday and I popped along this morning to take a look around and was amazed at what I saw…

“I work at Alexander First School and we have recently set up an Equine Therapy and Riding School on site to support our military community and children with special needs. We are looking for ways to fundraise and to raise the profile of our school and would like to invite you to join us to have a look around and see if there is anything you can do to help us achieve our goals.” Catherine Forster

Having a quick look at their website after speaking to the head teacher, it’s clear they have the best interests of our youngest residents at heart, trying many approaches to connect to the children in their care.

The kids come from all over the world and can be moved on at anytime with little notice… that can’t be easy?

Good mental health is fundamental to be able to thrive in life. If we are not embedding mental health teaching and learning and resources and support within our school, then we risk failing the next generation right at the start of their lives.

Forest School is an inspirational process that connects children with nature and develops confidence, resilience and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in our woodland setting.

Some of the army residents helped build the fences & paddocks for the horses, local firemen repurposed the stable block and Cllr Knowles, as Mayor, arranged delivery of a couple of ponies from Blue Acre 😉
