Many people think that the sculpture forgot the stirrups but in fact, a Roman leader would not have had stirrups, so I have since learned.

I was interested to read your thoughts on the copper horse stirrups. We were taught at school (Clewer St Stephens) that the sculpture was so ashamed of forgetting the stirrups that he went into the trees which the statue is pointing to and hung himself. I much prefer your version.
