Following last nights announcement by the Prime Minister many volunteers groups have sought clarity as to their activities . I have discussed this with Hilary and our current position ( subject to future guidance from Central Gov) will be as follows :-
– RBWM recognised Voluntary Groups working in the community.
– There is a lack of clarity on this due to the latest announcements and I’m sure more guidance will come out in due course.
– RBWM interpretation of the guidance is that caring for vulnerable people is still one of the essential roles described in the guidance and this applies to community response. So we are saying that people can still act in support of the community but applying sensible precautions – so focusing visits (ie not going out lots of times in the day), not congregating together, washing their hands, observing social distance etc.
I hope this is clear and will allow our community volunteers to continue to safely support the vulnerable and isolated in our communities, until more central guidance is received .
