On Saturday 5th March 2022 members of both Windsor & Eton Rotary Club and Windsor St George Rotary Club took to the streets of Windsor and raised a whopping £4301.24 for Ukrainian refugees.
The money will be sent to the Rotary Club of Suceava Cetate, Romania, as they are located in one of the hotspots of the Ukrainian migration crisis not far from Radauti (one of the two Romanian Asylum Centres at the northern border).
Chris Davies, President of Windsor St George Rotary Club, thanked residents on Facebook “On behalf of both Windsor’s Rotary clubs, huge thanks to everyone who put their hands in their pockets in town today to donate money towards helping Ukrainian refugees. 100% of every penny raised, will go towards helping those refugees fleeing their homeland. Thank you!”
Adrian Benge, President of Windsor & Eton Rotary Club wrote to fellow Rotarians.
“I would like to thank everyone who braved the cold yesterday to do our street collection, in Windsor Yards and Peascod Street, for the Ukrainian Refugees. Despite being very cold it was a good day talking to local people.
The first person to donate was a little old lady who had a job to walk but donated £100 on her credit card. I did query the amount but she said she had been to her bank the day before and wanted them to send £100 but she was told they were not doing this at the moment.
The Grand Total was £4301.24
Well done to all that took part yesterday and Thank you from the bottom of my heart, it was a very successful day, Thank you again.”
Thank you Windsor.
Adrian & Chris
