Taxi drivers and RBWM Licensing Officers working together
Last night I sat on the licensing panel where all 11 councillors accepted that RBWM Hackney Carriage Drivers needed to increase their minimum charge to help them with the cost of living crisis.
It is hardly fair that they sit waiting in a queue of other Hackney drivers for 45 minutes to then only have to drive someone a few hundred yards, charge £3 and then have to join the back of the queue… is it?
The quid pro quo was more rules relating to how they operate, with the aim of ensuring a very positive experience for passengers.
All parties were happy with the outcome with the various next steps & legal consultations taking between 2 and 4 weeks, so the new rules will start being implemented in a few weeks.
Thank you
