Alexander Devine gets set to #ROCKTHEBLUE for Children’s Hospice Week!

Local children’s hospice service, Alexander Devine, is urging the local community to join in the BLUEming brilliant fun at the end of June with its #ROCKTHEBLUE campaign for Children’s Hospice Week.

The charity will be marking the national awareness and fundraising week, which takes place between Monday 19th and Sunday 25th June, by once again running is #ROCKTHEBLUE campaign.

Why blue? Blue was 8 year old Alexander Devine’s favourite colour and along with his favourite animal, the dolphin, it forms part of the Alexander Devine logo; a reminder of how this very special boy from Windsor inspired the charity, after he sadly passed away from a rare brain tumour in 2007, and without whom they would not be here today providing specialist care and support to so many children and families.

Local schools and businesses have already signed up and are busy planning their blue-themed activities, from a Big Blue Festival to a Blue Themed Quiz. Other schools and businesses are looking to organise activities such as blue dress up days and bake sales.

Maddie Jones, Corporate and Events Fundraiser at Alexander Devine, thanked those who had already pledged to #ROCKTHEBLUE this June.

“We are thrilled to have so many local businesses and schools signed up to help us #ROCKTHEBLUE this Children’s Hospice Week.

It’s such a wonderful and fun way for our local community to come together and show their support for our charity and there’s still plenty of time if you want to get involved. If you have an idea or would like help, please do get in touch with our Fundraising team.

It really is crucial for us to raise awareness and funds, as the demand for our children’s hospice service is constantly increasing. The vital work we do is nearly entirely reliant on donations, fundraising and gifts in Wills. With the generosity and kindness of our amazing community, we can continue to be there for local children and their families facing the toughest and unimaginable times.”

The need and cost of their service has never been greater. The charity currently supports over 165 children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and their families, across Berkshire and into surrounding counties. It must keep growing its team of nurses and carers to meet the huge demand for the service and cope with the increasingly complex caseload of babies, children and young people that need its support.
