The ‘Pub & Pastries Seniors Social’ offers people the chance to socialise, share experiences and receive advice in a relaxed environment, where they can easily build a sense of camaraderie. Familiar faces and friendly conversation are crucial for supporting people with dementia, in what is often a distressing time, for them and their families.
Supporting older people across the community, many of whom are living with dementia and Parkinsons, Home Instead understands that those who have just been diagnosed often don’t know where to go. Often, people are referred to day centers, but that is not always what is best for those in the early stages.
Home Instead is keen to give people a casual setting to deal with the initial challenges of the condition as well as establishing connections, making friendships, building a familiar routine and normalising stating social, despite the diagnosis.
Volunteers / Supporters
We invite experts to be on hand to offer advice on a range of topics and signpost what support and services are available in the community. Volunteers can include anyone who may have something to offer to the people attending. We have had Pranic healers, massage therapists and local choirs to provide their services during the meet up and engage with the group, helping them to feel seen and included, not isolated. Other volunteers such as AGE UK Windsor have helped to organise and TESCO Dedworth provides our sweet treats . Just come along and chat and help to make someone from your community’s day a little brighter.
