Windsor Ascot & Maidenhead Community Land Trust
Inspired by the growing national Community Led housing movement, Windsor Ascot & Maidenhead Community Land Trust (WAMCLT) is a not-for-profit, volunteer run Community Benefit Society that exists to own and operate land and other assets for the benefit of the local community in perpetuity.
We aim to act as an area wide CLT that will deliver financially and environmentally sustainable housing and other community facilities (such as community centres, pubs, or open spaces) for local people across the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
Our Vision is to:
- enable community projects involving community ownership of land, in perpetuity, within the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead area
- enable the community to build truly affordable and sustainable homes
- help deliver a community service or project clearly linked to the needs of the local communities, such as a shop or cafe or community centre, or food growing project.
We aim to:
- Connect local people that want to start their own housing projects
- Develop ideas to get projects going
- Raise awareness and build knowledge
- Collaborate with local landowners, councils, employers, industry professionals
- Discover suitable land and properties and organize and collaborate to buy them
- Raise funding

Lifetime membership of our Society only costs £1 (plus an annual admin £5 admin fee). Come and join us!
Volunteers / Supporters
Our volunteers and supporters are a mixed bunch. You don’t need particular skills to join us as a member (although its great if you have) but we need just a willingness to support. A typical member joins us to support the cause, and may attend occasional monthly meetings, and as they learn more, some go on to be more active. Lizzie is one of our active members who wants to help bring people together to create their own housing projects. She is motivated by seeing close friends or family struggling to pay large rents, whilst still having to share housing in their mid-late 30s – unable to even put up a picture on the wall let alone make a house feel like home.
Lizzie would like people who are currently not considered in need for housing to have a different option. It is sad so many leave the area because there are too few opportunities to afford properties in the Thames Valley, and she feels strongly that a community land trust model would be an excellent ally to the local council during the housing crisis.
