Windsor Directory of Community Groups & Charities – THE LAUNCH

Please consider this an open invitation… join us if you are able…

The Mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, Cllr Neil Knowles, has kindly agreed to help us launch the Windsor Directory of Community Groups & Charities at 10am on Wednesday 20th March 2024 at The Guildhall in Windsor.

We hope he is as pleased with the paper directory as he was when he found the “Buzz Lightyear” toy on the Baby Bank stall at Windsor & Eton Rotary’s Mid-Summer Fayre last year. I wonder what his nickname was when he was an army helicopter pilot?

We’ve chosen the Spring Equinox for the launch to weave its magic into the mix as all new initiatives need all the extra help they can get 😉

The directory was inspired by people wanting to know more about volunteering.

Since it tends to be those over 50 that do the majority of the volunteering, it was decided a paper copy might be preferable. We also have a digital flip directory which will be launched at the same time.

The original idea was shared via our blog towards the end of October 2023.

Seed funding was identified and agreed through the RBWM’s Innovation Fund in December.

We anticipated 30 groups stepping up for the first edition, over 80 have!

Our first edition is 1200 copies and 96 pages of quality content that hopefully inspires local people to find out more about the groups contained within. Not just reading the directory content but physically visiting the groups and finding one that resonates with them so much they want to do what they can to help.

If you are free or find yourself in town at 10am on Wed 20th then please join us for the launch.

“The Windsor Directory will make an extremely valuable contribution to our awareness about so many important activities and services already going on in the local community and a useful tool for helping build even more positive engagement.  A huge thank you to Jon Davey for the idea of producing a local Directory and undertaking the huge amount of work involved in creating it.”

Thank you.

SNAPPY SNAPS SELLING “I LOVE WINDSOR” MERCHANDISE

I Love Windsor cup and t-shirt

To get the party started, we are pleased to announce that Snappy Snaps Windsor are selling t-shirts, mugs and other items with the I Love Windsor logo on it. A logo designed by my fellow Rotarian, local artist and all round good chap, Denis Blandford, who is sadly no longer with us.

If they sell like hot cakes then we will use most of the income we receive from Snappy Snaps to support local community groups. Denis would have liked that.
