Make Your Feelings Known to Local Councillors
Go review Alexandra Gardens Windsor on Ice 25/00537 on the Planning Portal and make your comments.
The latest planning application for Alexandra Gardens 25/00537 is in and local Councillors will be making a decision on Thursday July 3rd at 6pm and the Windsor and Ascot Development Management Committee meeting.
Seems to me the RBWM officers are inclined to refuse. You can add your comments by emailing planning@rbwm.gov.uk referencing the application number 25/00537.
You can add your vote to our FaceBook Poll as to suggested decisions for the Councillors.
Also join our Alexandra Gardens Windsor FaceBook Group

At this stage most of the technical reasons to refuse have been made. Your comments would be to ensure Councillors, who just love voters, appreciate the strength of feeling of the local community.
If you love the ice rink but just hate the huge metal structures, then object, those looking for permission can then come back with a revised plan that has more of a Christmas retail vibe, with German cabins that would be more in keeping with Windsor and its history.

You can read my own objection below…
Last year the organiser pitched it as a Winter Wonderland. This year it seems to be just Windsor on Ice and if it was just the ice rink I believe this would get far more support from the Windsor Community.
It is the huge fun, not fun rides that ruin the whole vibe. 40 tons of metal each, they destroy the lawns and make it difficult for the next layer of grass to take. It looked awful this winter when they left and currently it looks like a field of giant curly sandwiches!
A BIG THANK YOU to the RBWM Conservation Team for pushing back, Sustainability, Ecology and Environmental Protection bringing degree level questions to CSE form filling. Highways even got to join in with cycling provision.
Special shout out to Helen Leonard for her constant uphill battle to save our trees.
Windsor & Eton Society for their amazing responses to all local planning applications.
I thought Biodiversity Net Gain was supposed to be 30%, these guys are talking 10% and what’s on offer, 4 bird boxes. Seemingly the birds are complaining about over development in certain canopies and want those leaky bat infested boxes moved down nearer the arches away from their Royal vista 😉
I am offended by the rides, I would love to see these guys come with a plan for an ice rink and German style Christmas shopping cabins that local crafts folk could rent to sell their unique Christmas gifts. That would resonate with Windsor residents and tourists alike. Far more appropriate for our historic town.
Local businesses I have spoken to see no additional sales because of the ice rink. Happy to do a survey of local businesses if you’d like me to.
I note the Berkshire Garden Trust has not responded. Have they been asked? I recall they said RBWM Planning should ask as they are a statutory consultee and they had written to remind them.
Please refuse this application and suggest they come back with one with no 40 ton rides.
Thank you.

I think Windsor would benefit from an old style xmas market, cabins, music, local business sellers. The ice rink set up is, over priced, dare i say chavy and not in keeping with our town. It stays too long, takes weeks to set up and the garden is ruined, again. I’m aware that they pay for the re turf but that means the gardens are an ugly sight for months.
Brilliant Jon! Totally agree with your sentiments!
