Congratulations all round to the Windsor & Maidenhead Symphony

Orchestra String Section who performed at Holy Trinity Church as part of the Cookham Festival, on Saturday evening to a large and appreciative audience – what an absolutely fabulous concert they were treated to!

It was a varied programme with numbers from the Stage and Screen including Gershwin, Bernstein, Morricone, Mancini, Sondheim and more. The event was compered by the Orchestra’s Chairman Frances Jones, with the String Orchestra, conducted by Susie Henwood and led by Melissa Devaney-Ward, clearly delighting in the works demanded.

The audience left the concert full of compliments about this enterprising orchestra and keen to find out about the next concert taking place at the end of June with Bernstein Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, Prokofiev, Delius and Holst amongst the programme delights. This next full orchestral summer family concert will be held in Newbold Church in Binfield on the afternoon of Sunday 21 June 2026 at 4pm: this features the recent BBC Young Musician of the Year pianist Ryan Wang, who will be performing Shostakovich’s buoyant Piano Concerto No 2.
