I love windsor

We have written to many of the community groups in Windsor inviting them to share their latest news so we can share it further afield… The main blockage in all of this is that community groups are great at getting on and doing what they are good at, focused on the matter at hand, whatever…

I’m interested to hear from as many people as possible so I can establish what the average Windsor person’s world looks like. Out of 7 days, how many days a week would you prefer to travel into say town, or to the gym by car, bike or foot? If you stay at home 3 days,…

Community Fridges are set up to be a longer-term feature of a community, are not means tested and are open to all. They bring people together to see good food be shared and eaten, instead of going to waste. PLEASE, PLEASE visit Windsor’s community fridge and don’t feel that just by you visiting to  pick…

Love Windsor Community Newsletter is aimed at those who prefer paper to digital channels and is just 4 pages, so those who are visiting retail outlets can pick up more than one copy and share them with those they know would appreciate the content. Many older people do not engage with social media channels or…

The last 18 months has been life changing for many residents and we felt we’d like to make a difference in some way by connecting the community. Helping our older residents… they have so missed hanging out with their friends at the many clubs that have been closed. Stories to inspire our young people to…

I love it when young people have an initiative and take action to help others. Jess wanted to protect the animals down Sutherland Grange and so put the word out on Facebook that she was going to do a litter pick on 17th July and if anyone wanted to join in to meet at 11am. …

Hutchinson 3G have put in a new application for Ruddlesway, reducing the mast by 3 metres and claiming by so doing they have “robustly addressed” the councils decision to refuse 21/01269 which had over 50 residents’ objections! After more emails this week from residents about the poor state of our grass cutting, even when it is cut, it is not the best! Then today, confirmation that I am not alone with an email from Cllr Coppinger, lead member for all things green… The contract is up for renewal in 2026 and by…

Reflecting on the UK opening up and changes that may lie ahead for us all, I was pondering why I seem to enjoy working at Tesco so much, and made a note of a few of the conversations I had yesterday. One chap was buying various animal feeds and we started talking about the birds…

If you are presented with “a quote” then can I request that you look for the bigger picture. Last week there were reports of the great things the Tories were doing for our Leisure Centres… over £500,000 spent on new flumes… unfortunately they forgot to mention something! Can you see what is missing from the…

On Tuesday evening we had our first face to face council meeting since COVID moved us all onto Zoom. While it’s good to meet in person, I think I prefer the Zoom format when everyone is at home as you get to see who says what far more clearly but we are where we are……

More great news from Windsor’s business community…  When Willy said he was setting up a brewery many moons ago I thought, what a fun idea! Just look at them now, the brewery just keeps on expanding and going from strength to strength… check out Treason at 5.8% 😉  When The Swan did an appeal for…

People in rural Scotland, Wales and the North East of England will enjoy huge improvements in their mobile coverage thanks to the Shared Rural Network, a £1 billion mobile connectivity programme agreed between the country’s main mobile operators and the UK government. This scheme is a major part of the government’s plan to level up all…

My grandmother use to tell me about her life as a child in Somerset and one thing she use to tell me was that her mother always made them set an extra place at the table just in case a tramp/traveller was passing and needed a meal. In return the visiting gypsies would feed the…

I have just had an email from the officer overseeing the Ruddlesway application and I am glad to announce that it has been refused because 50+ residents, residents associations, Parish Councils and other influential bodies stood up and made their feelings known through the official channels. Special thanks to Windsor Neighbourhood Plan for designating the…

What is the point of an Overview & Scrutiny Panel if all it does is act as a nodding dog… simply conducting the meetings to tick a legal box with no real intention of actually scrutinizing reports? In the signed off Infrastructure O&S Annual Scrutiny Report, section 7 dealt with “proposals for improvement” and makes…

@WERotary Youth Committee received 8 applications for funding and made its decisions based on the specific needs of competing organisations and the value and quality that limited funding could provide. Each year Windsor & Eton Rotary Club receive a number of requests for money and we also organise our own events, such as Youth Speaks,…
